Patriotic Alliance (PA) leader Gayton Mckenzie has submitted a complaint to the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) against the Democratic Alliance (DA).
The PA has accused the DA of actions that are characterised “by cynical lies and even incitement of violence.”
According tot he PA, the DA has crossed the line of what constitutes decent, civilised behaviour and have acted against the principles of free and fair elections.
The PA says the DA has been circulating a video falsing accusing Gayton Mckenzie of calling Muslims enemies.
“DA Councillor Angus Mckenzie has tried to infame religious tensions by trying to promote the myth that the PA and its leader Gayton Mckenzie are anti-Muslim.
Nothing could be further from the truth, even though an evil edit of a video has been circulating of President Mckenzie ostensibly saying ‘Muslims are our enemies,’ when his actual words were that, ‘Muslims are not our enemies. Muslims are our enemies in their minds, but in our minds they are our brothers and sisters.’
The comment was also made within the greater context of a protest that was called by Angus Mckenzie in Bonteheuewel.
Further investigation revealed that Angus Mckenzie’s voice note specifically targeted the Muslim community, urging them to protest against the PA’s presence in Bonteheuwel.
This deliberate attempt to exploit religious tensions is not only unethical but also a severe breach of the IEC’s Code of Conduct, which explicitly prohibits incitement to violence and abuse of power.”
The PA further alleges the DA Provincial Candidate Marting Nel disseminated false information via social media labelling PA leaders and members ‘gangsters’, attributing them to gang violence.
The DA has been warning voters in the Western Cape against voting for the PA which is growing in supporters in the province.
DA veteran Helen Zille says a coalition involving the PA will be terrible and will only make things worse for the Western Cape.
