Earlier this week, leading up to Ancestors Day on May 8th, South African media personality Hulisani Ravele encouraged her followers to ask her any questions related to the subject.
While she did answer some questions from her followers, she mentioned that she couldn’t go too deep into her spiritual journey at the moment. “I am not called to teach at this point in my life and journey,” she explained.
One of her followers asked her what Ancestors Day entails.
Ravele explained that the Congress of Traditional Leaders of South Africa, along with communities and cultural leaders, have been advocating for May 8th to be recognized as a day for Black African people in the country to honour their roots before colonisation.
“To have a moment to pay homage and to remember our beginning before colonisation arrived on our continent,” said the media personality in part.
