Mufasa: The Lion King movie to feature John Kani, Thuso Mbedu, Kagiso Lediga.
The latest trailer of the story of the Lion King, Mufasa, the father of Simba’s history has been shared and it features South Africa’s brightest talent.
The film has a star-studded cast, including SA’s John Kani, Thuso Mbedu, Kagiso Lediga, alongside Aaron Pierre, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Tiffany Boone, Donald Glover, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Beyoncé and Blue Ivy Carter.
Barry Jenkins, who directed Moonlight, wrote the music for the movie, which is directed by Lin-Manuel Miranda, there is also additional music performances by South Africa’s Lebo M.
According to the movie’s synopsis “The prequel about the rise of one of the greatest kings of the Pride Lands, goes back to the African savannah where Rafiki tells Kiara—daughter of Simba and Nala—the story of her grandfather while Timon and Pumbaa add color commentary”
The movie Mufasa: The Lion King is scheduled to open in theaters on December 20, 2024.
