MMC calls for justice in the brutal murder of a JMPD officer by an SAPS officer.
Dr. Mgcini Tshwaku, the City of Johannesburg’s MMC for Public Safety, has said that they will not stop until justice is served in the wake of the horrible murder of Nombulelo Mthimkhulu, a JMPD traffic officer.
Mthimkhulu had 17 years of experience as a JMPD traffic officer. Last Saturday, at her Dobsonville home in Soweto, a member of the SAPS opened fire on the mother of two, shooting her three times in the back.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to the City of Johannesburg’s MMC for Public Safety Dr. Mgcini Tshwaku following the murder of the JMPD traffic officer.
Listen to the full conversation:
Tshwaku expressed his disappointment with how the situation was handled by the national police commissioner who he said blamed the JMPD officer, worsening the division that already exists between SAPS and JMPD.
“What made things worse was that the National Commissioner pronounced on the matter without getting the facts, If I was him I would have consulted the JMPD Chief of Police, and all the other members to try and get to the bottom of what happened. As a responsible and ethical leader, there should have been a joint press statement.”
JMPD officer Nombulelo Mthimkhulu was laid to rest over the weekend.
