Norma Mngoma, estranged wife of former SA Finance Minister Malusi Gigaba, set the Twitter streets ablaze after she made some explosive allegations during her appearance at the Zondo Commission earlier this week.
Mngoma dominated local headlines on Tuesday after she revealed how the Gupta family allegedly gave Gigaba money and helped bail his sister out of financial debt. She further claimed that the Gupta family gifted her soon-to-be ex-husband a BMW.
She was scheduled to speak at the Zondo Commission, which has been set up under the leadership of Chief Justice Raymond Zondo, to look into allegations of State Capture, but last week Mngoma’s lawyers revealed that she had changed her mind.
Reports claimed that Mngoma was unwilling to continue with her testimony however, Zondo then summoned her to appear.

Cash and gifts
Mngoma alleged that Gigaba had asked her not to speak to the Commission or the police about cash or gifts.
She further claimed that she did not know if Gigaba had declared any of the gifts given to him by the Guptas to any relevant authorities.
She said at one point, Gigaba’s sister had been blacklisted and was struggling to make payments on her bank card.
According to Mngoma, the woman owed the bank R850 000 and Gigaba said he would ask Ajay Gupta for the monies. She added that half the money was paid a few weeks later.
Mngoma then named a man who collected the money from the Gupta brother and helped Gigaba’s sister clear her name.
She alleged that Gupta helped pay a share of the couple’s renovation monies at their home.

Visits to Saxonwold
Mngoma said the Guptas have Gigaba a white 3-series BMW as well as a gold necklace for their oldest son.
She claimed that Gigaba often visited the Gupta compound in Saxonwold and packed cash away in their home safe.
She said Gigaba was instructed by the Gupta family on the appointment of Brian Molefe as the next Eskom CEO, months ahead of the actual appointment.
She told the Commission that Gigaba and Gupta often argued about who to appoint.
She said the Guptas were involved in influencing appointments at SOEs.
“Most of the time in Transnet, it will be the people that Ajay felt they need to be appointed or need to leave or may restructure, they would just argue about it because Malusi had his own favourites while Ajay had his own. SAA most of the time, when he’s with Ajay they will be talking about the board.
“There was a lot of discomfort between Malusi and the chairperson of SAA, sometimes they would discuss that. He told me that the Guptas don’t like him. They told him there would be a new restructuring. Someone else will move to Eskom and then Brian Dames will leave. I didn’t know how the process would happen but it did,” Mngoma said.
She said she remembered when Brian Dames would be replaced by Brian Molefe at Eskom, claiming she knew ahead of the appointment ahead of time.
Her testimony has divided Twitter:
Norma is just an angry wife to be divorced, If it wasnt for Gigaba's action (asking for divorce) we would not have known all of this rubbish. Yes Gigaba is corrupt but we must no be taken for a ride here #NormaMngoma

I don't understand how people are not okay with Norma Gigaba spilling the beans because "she got children with him" but are okay with the fact that Malusi put her in jail and he didn't think of the children and also thinking that there won't be any consequences#NormaMngoma
