A worried mother shares that her 16-year-old daughter is pregnant. She can’t help but feel like a failure, as she got pregnant at just 17. With two other kids to take care of, she’s stressed about how she’ll manage financially.
Her daughter has suggested she move in with her boyfriend’s family to ease the financial burden. Anonymous is considering her daughter’s suggestion and is seeking advice from fellow listeners to see if there are any blind spots she might be missing.
“Uncle T, my 16-year-old daughter, told me she is 4 months pregnant. This really broke my heart because I had her when I was 17. I have so many regrets, and I can’t help but blame myself. I failed to break this generational curse.
“I have been trying to be there for my daughter, but I am honestly emotionally struggling. Her boyfriend’s family have been supportive and has even suggested that she move in with them. To help lessen the load.
“I know my daughter needs me, but I feel she will just do better with her boyfriend’s family. My reason is that I am a single mother and have two other kids that also need me. Would I be wrong to allow her to be with her boyfriend’s family? Emotionally, I just don’t think I am going to be a good support to her. What could be my blind spot?”
