Tammy Taylor, the CEO and founder of the popular nail and beauty salons in South Africa and abroad, has accused a South African couple of stealing her identity.
Taylor, who took to her brand’s social media pages on Thursday, 28 March says husband and wife duo, Melany and Peet Viljoen have used her personal brand which she established in 1983, to operate franchises in South Africa and distribute her products.
In her statement about the Viljoen’s, Taylor accuses the couple of infringing on the Tammy Taylor trademark, this despite the South African business owners claiming they have an existing agreement with Taylor.
However, Taylor says the agreement which was in place for solely distribution of products in South Africa, was terminated in 2021.
“Melany and Peet Viljoen have stolen my identity. They are illegally using my name to sell franchises.
They’re counterfeiting and selling my products and have forged my signature on illegal documents, amongst others.
They are also being deceptive and using my name, my logo, my trademarks and copyrights on all their social media platforms.
I have been threatened, harassed and now stalked by Melany and Peet Viljoen.
I will not be a victim of Melany and Piet Viljoen’s abuse anymore. I will speak out.”

Tammy Taylor started her nail and beauty brand in Southern California, USA and has reportedly instructed the South African couple to stop trading under its name.
According to Taylor there are ongoing disputes regarding the matter, and she accused the Viljoen’s of bringing her brand into disrepute with their alleged shady dealings.
Over the years there have been a number of investigations into the South African couple, after a number of aspiring female entrepreneurs lodged complaints with the National Consumer Commission.
The women are said to have paid R345 000 to the Viljoen’s in hopes to open a Tammy Taylor Nails franchise which never came to fruition.
Carte Blanche did an expose on Melany and Peet Viljoen in 2020, after the women alleged they were scammed and bullied by the couple.
