The Easter weekend was marred by a tragic bus crash which claimed the lives of 45 people enroute to Moria.
On Thursday, 28 March a bus carrying 46 passengers caught fire after colliding into barriers on a bridge and plunging to the ground.
An 8-year old child is said to be the sole survivor of the horrific crash, with one other person seriously injured.
Limpopo Minister of Transport, Ms Sindisiwe Chikunga said the bus crash occurred Mamatlakala, Limpopo.
“I am sending my heartfelt condolences to the families affected by the tragic bus crash near Mamatlakala. Our thoughts and prayers are with you during this difficult time.
We continue to urge responsible driving at all times with heightened alertness as more people are on our roads this Easter weekend.”
Only 34 bodies have been recovered so far, and the 8-year old survivor is receiving medical attention at a nearby hospital.
The passengers were all pilgrims from Botswana who were enroute to Moria for an Easter pilgrimage.
