Thuso Mbedu has co-written an afro-fantasy comic series – “Niobe: She-Tribe”.
The Woman King and Underground Railroad star Thuso Mbedu is celebrating her contribution to a new comic series “Niobe: She-Tribe”.
Mbedu, joined forces with Stranger Comics to co-write a new story in the publisher’s afro-fantasy Tales of Asunda series. She co-wrote it with Sebastian A. Jones, the president of Stranger Comics.
According to the series description, the main heroine of Tales of Asunda is followed in “Niobe: She-Tribe,” where “she finds herself thrust into an ethical conflict when she encounters a tribal society that selects its new leader in a fight to the death.”
Mbedu who was recently announced as L’Oréal’s first Black brand ambassador for sub-Saharan Africa posted pictures of the comic on social media.
“Never in my life did I ever imagine that I’d do something as cool as co-writing a comic 😯 It’s something I would’ve wanted to do but never actually thought I COULD do because how, sway??? So I’m very happy to announce that the latest episode of Niobe that I had the privilege of co-writing with @strangercomics@sebastian.a.jones is finally live for presale now!!!!!! I’m so excited.
