Orlando Pirates has confirmed that soccer legend, Stanley “Screamer” Tshabalala was shot in a break-in at his home on Wednesday, 20 March.
The Technical Director at Pirates and former Bafana Bafana coach is said to be recovering after the ordeal, and his family have called for privacy during this time.
“Former Bafana Bafana coach, Stanley “Screamer” Tshabalala was shot following a house break in at the Tshabalala residence yesterday, just after midday.
The matter is currently in the hands of the South African Police Services (SAPS).
The Tshabalala family would like to thank the public for their messages of support during this time and have asked for privacy while Bra Stan is recovering.”
Bra Stan as he is affectionately known, earned the nickname “Screamer” because of his penchant to constantly scream for the ball.
Stanley “Screamer” Tshabalala was a founding member of Kaizer Chiefs and also coached Mamelodi Sundowns in the 80s.
