The Democratic Alliance (DA) is calling for a pause on loadshedding in Johannesburg East, saying some suburbs have been without power for 3-months.
In a statement issued on Monday, 19 February the DA in Gauteng says the situation has worsened over the past weekend where thousands of residents have now come forward to sign a petition.
Wards 66, 67 and 118 in Johannesburg East face a third month of power outages due to multiple failures at the Observatory and Bellevue substations.
Residents from Yeoville, Bellevue, Bertrams, Upper Houghton, Kensington, Bezuidenhout Valled, Cyrildene, Dewetshof, Observatory, Bruma and surrounding areas are now calling for something to be done about the power outage.
According to the DA, more than 2 000 people have signed the petition which will be delivered to City power on Monday, calling for a permanent solution to the power outages.
DA Johannesburg East Constituency Head, Jack Bloom will hand over the petition.
