Jay Z slams Grammys for not giving Beyonce ‘Album of the Year award’.
Shawn “Jay-Z” Carter accepted the Dr. Dre Global Impact Award for the second time during the Grammy Awards ceremony in what many have called the highlight of this year’s ceremony.
Jay Z took to the podium and gave his three-minute speech discussing the complex relationship between hip-hop and the Grammy Awards and his own family.
He brought up the boycotts of Will Smith and Jazzy Jeff in 1989 and his own, which came after the legendary DMX was passed over in 1998.

Then, with a perhaps apprehensive nod toward Beyoncé, who was observing her husband and daughter from the audience, he continued:
“I don’t want to embarrass this young lady [Beyoncé], but she has more Grammys than everyone, and never won Album of the Year. So even by your metrics, that doesn’t work. Think about that: the most Grammys, never won Album of the Year. That doesn’t work.”
