So this is love? That elusive feeling that can’t quite be described in words. Love exists in many forms, and regardless of the type of relationship, be it between siblings, the love a parent has for their child or even romantic, love is something that simply put, just is.
Thomas recently understood what unconditional love is, something that may have been present throughout his life but was overlooked.
It was only when he experienced this profound love for his son at his initiation ceremony, did he realize that the love of his family is unwavering, resolute and without a doubt the very definition of unconditional love.
While some equate love with tangible benefits, such as time, effort, acts of service or gifts, there are others, like Skhumba who believe love is rooted in respect.
Respect is something that is important between loved ones, but this doesn’t define what unconditional love is.
Listeners shared their definition of unconditional love with Thomas and Skhumba, but before going through what love means to them, a general description of unconditional love is:
“An affection without any limitations, or love without conditions. This term is somtimes associated with other terms such as true altruism or complete love.”
A listener defined love in the simplest way, saying love is thoughtfulness. To her, just being able to think about someone before yourself is the purest form of love.
