A memorial service will be held at the Mbilwi Secondary school to remember Lufuno Mavhunga. The grade 10 learner committed suicide after being assaulted by a fellow learner.
Her memorial service will be streamed on Youtube and Facebook from 10:00.
Her family says the school failed to handle their daughters bullying complaints properly. The South African Human Rights Commission says schools need to take swift action against bullying.
The commission says this will assist other pupils who may be experiencing the same challenges to come forward. Human Rights commission Spokesperson Victor Mavhidula says reporting cases of bullying limit the effects on the victim.
