Halloween is a popular holiday celebrated on the night of October 31st. It is primarily observed in countries like the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, and some other parts of the world. Halloween has its roots in ancient Celtic and Christian traditions, and it has evolved into a festive and fun holiday with various customs and activities.
South Africa is one of the countries slowly starting to observe this day. People usually dress up like their favourite celebrities or television characters. Ley aspects of Halloween include:
- Costumes: People, especially children, dress up in costumes that range from spooky to creative and go trick-or-treating, where they visit houses in their neighbourhood, knock on doors, and receive candies and treats.
- Decorations: Many people decorate their homes with spooky and ghostly decorations, such as cobwebs, skeletons, witches, and other creepy items. Haunted houses and mazes are also popular attractions during this time.
- Halloween Parties: Many adults and children attend Halloween parties where they can enjoy games, costume contests, and themed food and drinks.
