“Employees have been evacuated” Fire breaks out at SABC’s Auckland Park offices
Jo’burg EMS has confirmed that a fire broke out at the SABC’s Auckland Park offices in Johannesburg.
The fire started on Thursday afternoon.
When they have further information about the fire incident, according to spokesperson Robert Mulaudzi, they will release it.
Mulaudzi has stated that all employees have been evacuated.
“We can confirm that at this stage we are at the SABC Radio Park building investigating reports of a fire incident.
“The employees have been evacuated and there are no injuries that have been reported so far.”
“We will be able to give further updates about this incident,” said Mulaudzi

The SABC has released a statement stating that the fire was contained.
“The South African Broadcasting Corporation (SABC) can confirm a fire incident at its headquarters, in the Radio campus in Auckland Park.
Staff members have been evacuated from the affected building and an investigation into what caused the fire is also underway. Contingency measures are being implemented and the safety of all employees is prioritized.
The Corporation will provide a further update once the emergency services have surveyed the situation.” read the statement
