Dohne Damons
The once-popular flavoured milk drink, Nesquik that was widely favoured for its artificial colourant-free flavours will no longer be available on South African shelves.
South African fans of the chocolate and strawberry-flavoured powder that helped encourage children to enjoy a glass of milk, will be disappointed following the announcement that was made last week.
Nesquik announced that the flavoured drink largely remembered by millennials for its ‘blame it on the bunny” slogan is discontinued as of 21 August 2023.
This move comes as a result of a decline in sales and reduced demand for the product.
Nestlé explained that due to these factors, Nesquik will no longer be produced in South Africa and will subsequently be taken off the market.
The company acknowledged that this decision might disappoint some of its loyal consumers. However, Nestlé has reassured its customers that other popular beverages will remain available. Products such as Milo, Hot Chocolate, and Cocoa drinks will continue to be produced. These brands have demonstrated strong performance and a loyal consumer base, which has motivated Nestlé to focus on them as part of their strategy to ensure a healthier and more sustainable business going forward.
