Thuso Mbedu joins Miss SA 2023 judging panel.
SA born, now Hollywood actress Thuso Mbedu will serve as one of the judges at the Miss South Africa 2023 competition, which will take place on Sunday, August 13, at SunBet Arena at Time Square in Pretoria.
Mbedu who has numerous accolades to her name, recently won an Independent Spirit Award, Gotham Award, and Hollywood Critics Association Award, and was nominated for a Critics Choice Award, for her starring role as “Cora” in Barry Jenkins’ The Underground Railroad, making her the first South African leading woman of a US television series.
She’s also been flying the SA flag very high overseas and continues to be a shining example of what South Africa has to offer overseas.
Mbedu will bring her distinct viewpoint and experiences to the tournament in her capacity as a judge, inspiring the competitors to embrace their uniqueness and walk proudly.

Her presence will encourage the candidates to concentrate not only on their outward beauty but also on their inner power and resilience, according to a press statement from L’Oréal Paris.
“We are thrilled to announce the talented South African actress @Thuso.Mbedu as a new brand ambassador and spokesperson for L’Oréal Paris in the Sub-Saharan Africa region,” read the post.
