Actor and television personality, Solomon More, aka Carpo has shared how his friend, SA rapper, Cassper Nyovest saved his life by paying for his surgery.
In an interview on Robot Boii and Mpho Popps’ podcast, Popcorn and Cheese, Carpo opens up about his lifelong friendship with the rapper.
The childhood friends’ story touched the over 203 000 viewers who were in awe of Refiloe Maele Phoolo, aka Cassper’s generosity and compassion for his friend.
Carpo, who didn’t have medical aid at the time, had cut a vein in his wrist which pumps blood to his heart, when he punched through a glass with his hand out of anger.
The incident at his mom’s funeral, when a friend of his made an insensitive comment about how he should and shouldn’t mourn his loss, almost cost him his life.
“At my mom’s funeral, I didn’t cry. I remember an argument with a friend who said something about ‘don’t sing to them about your mom now,’ and I got so angry I punched the glass with my hand.
I had to go to hospital, and the first person I ran to was Refiloe. I ran to his room, I had blood everywhere. He put me in the car and drove me to the hospital. When we got to the hospital, they said, ‘he doesn’t have medical aid.’
Refiloe said he doesn’t care how much it costs, he will pay for whatever it is. Refiloe paid R130 000 cash for my surgery.”
