Exactly a week before his untimely passing in Durban, AKA had recorded music with K.O. The two rappers were actually working on a joint album, K.O. confirmed.
“Exactly 7 days ago, AKA and myself were in the studio recording a precursor single to our long overdue collaborative tape. 7 days later I can’t believe I’m even here making this post.
“Rest in heaven, dear friend, king, legend, icon, GOAT. Love you for life,” tweeted K.O.
Taking to social media, Nadia Nakai expressed her heartfelt desire for K.O to release the song which she says held a special place in AKA’s heart.
The unreleased song evidently left an impact on Nakai, who took tweeted, “There’s a song, Kiernan did with KO. (Not out yet) but he was soooo proud of his verse… I hope KO drops It!!! Please do! @MrCashtime I listen to it all the time! ‘It’s hard to be a stand-up guy and stand the test of time’ Skanda God! Meeeeega!!!!” #Godly…
Responding to Nakai’s plea, K.O. expressed his intention to honour AKA’s memory and fulfil her wish. He assured Nakai that he would indeed release the collaboration this summer. His response, “Love queen. We gonna do the right thing! Definitely this summer.”
Cassper on recording music with AKA
Cassper Nyovest recently revealed that he and AKA collaborated on music that remains unheard. In an interview, the rapper opened up about the unreleased tracks, stating, “We actually have music together that people have never heard. We made a few records together.”
Reflecting on the history-making beef, Cassper shared his thoughts, admitting he never expected the feud to become a monumental moment in the country’s music history. “He was doing his thing, and I was doing mine, and we went back and forth. I don’t know about him, but I don’t remember ever thinking we were carrying South African music. That was the most interesting thing in music,” he added.
