While addressing the media at Kusile Power Station, Ramokgopa shared that the possibility of South Africans experiencing loadshedding Stage 8 can not be ruled out.
The minister said that it would be “very irresponsible to declare by decree that there will be no stage 8.”
He says that he and the team at Eskom are doing all that they can to reduce the stages of loadshedding and that he is aware that all stages of loadshedding, from stage 3 to stage 6 is not acceptable.

Ramokgopa met with the Eskom team at Kusile Power Station to receive an update on the steps the team has taken to bring back four units to the grid.
Kusile Units 1, 2, and 3 have been out of service since last year. Ramakgopa says they collapsed after the flue duct at Unit 1 failed as a result of a duct bend.
The minister shared that he is happy with the progress that was made to connect the three units to the grid by December.
With the progress made so far, the four units at Kusile will be ready to generate the much-needed electricity to reduce stages of loadshedding by December.
The remaining 2 units are still under construction and will be commissioned by April 2024.
