Kelly Rowland named Uncle Waffles her favourite emerging artist in America after seeing her perform at Coachella.
The singer raved about the talented South African DJ in a sitdown podcast called “Pretty Smart.”
This of course caught the attention of fans in South Africa who watched the podcast or at least snippets of it that were shared on social media.
In the clip, Rowland says this about Uncle Waffles:
“There is this really cool DJ out right now, her name is Uncle Waffles. And she has got so much personality. She is from Africa, Nigeria, South Africa, I can’t think of where exactly, but she is so cool. She just played at Coachella, but I have known about this girl for at least about a year now.”

The excitement of Rowland mentioning Uncle Waffles as her favourite artist was quickly overshadowed by the confusion about Uncle Waffles’ nationality.
Fans were disappointed that Rowland didn’t know where in Africa Uncle Waffles was from. This news was more disappointing after Rowland mentioned that she had been following DJ Waffles for the past year.

Regardless, Uncle Waffles has enjoyed tons of international recognition. Other international names who also appreciate her as an artist include, Ciara, Chance the Rapper, and Drake.
Besides performing on the Coachella stage, Uncle Waffles has also performed on one of Brittain’s biggest platforms, BBC 1 Radio.
