Dr Mamokgethi Phakeng is the latest personality to enter the YouTube space as a creator. She recently announced that her new channel will be called Fabacademic which will focus on education among other interesting things.
“I’m starting a YouTube channel Fabacademic: Unfiltered. It is going to be fun, we are going to talk about education, academics; how to get into University. And for parents, if you have a child you have a child who’s going to university; how do you actually support them?” She said.
“We are also going to talk about the fact that professors are human. They themselves have lives. So we will talk about Mjolo; how parents can help their young people as they become Mjolo. And I’ll also help you as a young person how to choose and how to go about it. And when you no longer want them, how do you ghost them in a humane way?”
Dr Phakeng notes that she’ll cover these topics in an interesting, fun, and relatable way.
Earlier this year, Dr Phakeng left her role as Vice-chancellor of the University of Cape Town with immediate effect after reaching a R12 million settlement with the institution. This was amidst a ‘governance crisis.’
