The mutilated bodies of two boys, aged 5 and 6 years were found in different parts of Soweto on Thursday, 20 April.
One of the boy’s body parts were found in White City and the other was discovered in Rockville.
According to Gauteng police spokesperson, Elias Mawela, the boys were playing outside in a street near their homes when they went missing on Wednesday, 19 April.
At 18h00 one of the boy’s parent started looking for his son and couldn’t find him. The other parent was called to also try to locate the children but they were nowhere to be found.
Both boys were reported missing at the Moroka Police Station when the search party were unsuccessful.
“Gauteng police are investigating the gruesome murders of two boys, aged 5 and 6-years, who went missing while playing on the street, near their homes.
A search team involving relevant stakeholders, including search and rescue was activated.
Unfortunately the boys were found this morning murdered. Their bodies were mutilated.”
Speaking to Kaya News, one of the boys’ mother, called on police to act swiftly and give her family justice by bringing the perpetrators to book.
Police are calling for anyone with information to contact the nearest police station or the Crime Stop line at 08600-10111.
“It cannot be that no one saw or heard anything. All information will be treated as confidential.”
