Dr Nandipha Magudumana confirmed her identity in the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court on Monday, 17 April when she was requested to remove her mask and reveal her face.
This was due to the State Prosecutor who expressed concern that since her arrest, Dr Nandipha’s face has been expressly hidden.
“I understand that the accused may want to have her face covered when she is making her entrance into court, but we are inside the courtroom, and as the State Prosecutor, I have not seen her face.
I have the right to know that the person present in court, is actually the accused and not the wrong person. So, I am requesting that she remove her mask.”

After consultation with her legal representative, Dr Nandipha removed her face mask, confirming her identity to the court.
Multiple charges
The aesthetics doctor, her father, former G4S employee and a CCTV technician all made their second court appearance in relation to bail information.
Dr Nandipha, her father Zolile Sekeleni, Senohe Matsoara (G4S) and Teboho Lipholo are all linked to the brazen escape of convicted rapist and murderer, Thabo Bester.
The three accused are facing charges of murder, defeating the ends of justice, as well as aiding and abetting a convict.
Dr Nandipha however, faces charges of aiding and abetting a fugitive, murder, violation of bodies and fraud.
The doctor, Matsoara and Lipholo are expected to be remanded in prison until their formal bail application on 03 and 04 May.

Meanwhile, Sekeleni has been granted R10 000 bail with conditions.
Sekeleni has to report once a week to Port Edward Police Station and report directly to Colonel Flyman, between 08h00 and 17h00.
Dr Nandipha’s father will not be permitted to leave Port Edward, and cannot directly or indirectly interfere with state witnesses.
Failure to adhere to conditions will lead to a warrant of arrest and bail may be cancelled.
The 65-year old is expected to appear in court on 16 May.
Dr Nandipha’s partner in crime, Thabo Bester is also expected back in court on Monday.
Bester who escaped from the Mangaung Correctiona Center in May 2022, by faking his death, is facing additional charges which include, murder, fraud and escaping from lawful custody.
The ‘Facebook rapist’ was serving a life sentence for his previous crimes, when he escaped and fled the country to Tanzania.
