The FIFA 2026 World Cup will be the first edition of football’s most popular showpiece to feature 48 teams and three host countries: Canada, Mexico, and the United States.
This will be 16 more teams compared to 32 teams in 2022 and 104 matches., 40 more than the last World Cup where there were 64 matches.
The tournament promises to be one of the greatest and most diverse celebrations of all time, with matches hosted in Atlanta, Boston, Dallas, Guadalajara, Houston, Kansas City, Los Angeles, Mexico City, Miami, Monterrey, New York/New Jersey, Philadelphia, the San Francisco Bay Area, Seattle, Toronto, and Vancouver.
The 2022 FIFA World Cup was won by Lionel Messi’s Argentina cementing his legacy as one of football’s greatest ever.
For many fans, this ended the 16-year-long GOAT debate between him and Cristiano Ronaldo.
The two players were evenly matched for so long and the only accolade that eluded them was the FIFA World Cup.
