
Award-winning South African filmmaker Nompumelelo Ngqula has passed away at the age of 34.
Nompumelelo Ngqula was the co-founder of Pixel Perfect Productions.
The production company has produced masterpieces in television such as iThemba (SAFTA) Thandeka, Black Tax, Abantu basemzini Nomandla, and their more recent film Isivumelelwane.
It is reported that Ngqula passed away in the late hours of Thursday, March 16, 2023. The cause of her death is not known publicly.
Family spokesperson Luba Jane describes the filmmaker as a ‘creative force’
“It is with great sadness that we, the Ngqula and Maphalala family, announce the untimely passing of our beloved daughter Nompumelelo Ngqula. She was a creative force, an award-winning producer, and a writer.”
The Ngqula and Maphalala families are “thankful for the countless messages of love, prayers, and support received.”
These “are felt deeply and are keeping us going in this dark hour and ask that you continue to lift us up.”
Funeral and memorial details were not communicated publicly.
The family has asked for privacy to mourn the passing of their loved one.
