Wits University says its academic programme will continue online on Monday.
It says the institution remains fully operational, with senior executive members determining the on-campus staffing requirements.
Wits students took to the streets last week to protest against alleged financial exclusion.
Management at Wits met with a delegation from the SRC last week to discuss a number of further demands.
Wits spokesperson Shirona Patel says some of the students’ demands include the postponement of the academic year.

Students call for Mthokozisi Ntumba street name tribute
Students are calling for De Beer Street in Braamfontein to be renamed after Mthokozisi Ntumba.
The 35-year-old bystander was killed last week when he was caught in the #FeesMustFall2021 protests.
He was allegedly shot at close range with rubber bullets while leaving a clinic in the area.
Ntumba was allegedly shot three times. The Independent Police Investigative Directorate (Ipid) is investigating.
Calls have been mounting for Ntumba, who was married with three children, to be honoured with a street name.
