Sho Madjozi has finally released the visual of her incredible collaboration with XiTsonga legend Dr Thomas Chauke.
The song ‘Shahumba’ which is in her latest album ‘What a Life’ marks the return of Limpopo multi-awarding legend who has had a massive impact on Sho Madjozi’s music.
This is the first music video from the album. The visuals show a much younger version of Sho Madjozi taking a stroll in the village with her father and is a look back of where her love for dance and music began.

The music video tells a story of a young girl navigating life in her hometown and the special relationship she has with her father, who has influenced her musically.
She recently shared a heart-warming message expressing her gratitude to have had the honour of working with the legend on her Instagram saying “I don’t know if you guys get this but please comment if you do. Like most Tsonga people, I grew up admiring this man, only to become the 1st artist to ever collaborate with him. I’m so excited! I will forever love Dr Thomas Chauke. A legend forever ???”
Why this collaboration is such a big deal
Dr Thomas Chauke has been the soundtrack of many South African’s childhood with his music that’s firmly steeped in Tsonga culture.
He’s had a long career that’s seen him win 8 South African Music Awards (SAMAs). He was honoured by the University of Venda 10 years ago with an honorary doctorate for his musical contribution.
This is one of the first few collaboration he has done in years, a perfect ode to his stellar career. One of the fans on Sho Madjozi’s Youtube page summed it up perfectly.
