Real Housewives of Durban star Sorisha Naidoo and her husband Vivian Reddy revealed that they’ve donated R250 million to non-profit organizations.
At the launch of their community trust over the weekend Sorisha said it was “a great opportunity to touch base with all the organizations who give back to their communities in time, facilities, and love.
Speaking at the launch Vivian Reddy said he is proud of the work they’ve done thus far.
“This evening was a momentous evening where we became the first company in KZN to donate R250 million to great causes.”
Reddy notes that over the year they have “supported 260 organizations and made a difference in the lives of 60 thousand people.”
“When I look back at the projects that we’ve done, projects where we’ve helped to increase matriculation pass rates from 0 to 85 percent.
“Where we trained 3000 artisans and most of them have gotten jobs. The look we’ve done in child welfare and most important recent times involving ourselves in gender-based violence homes. These projects are going to help KNZ a better place.”
In closing, he said, “a rich man is very poor if he does not share his wealth with the less privileged.”
In 2013, Reddy’s company Edison Power was accused of corruption after being awarded a R1.25 billion tender, although this was later cleared.
In 2017 a news report cited a forensic investigation claiming that Edison group’s R1.2 billion contract “did not comply with legislative and administrative requirements.”
