53-year-old billionaire, Tyler Perry is reportedly in talks to buy a majority ownership stake in BET.
Tyler Perry is allegedly negotiating to acquire BET Media Group from Paramount, which is selling its majority ownership interest in the company.
According to Revolt TV, BET was formed as the first cable network to cater to Black audiences across the United States.
It was purchased by Paramount (previously Viacom) in 2000 for $2.3 billion (roughly R42 billion).

In addition to the holding company, some of its divisions have minority investors, making it a distinctive component of the business conglomerate.
The majority ownership stake in BET Media Group, which Perry is rumoured to be in talks to acquire, is allegedly being sold by Paramount as the television and film studio expands its streaming network Paramount+.
The founder of Allen Media Group/Entertainment Studios and television director Byron Allen are both interested in buying the majority stake in BET.
Along with Kenya Barris, Rashida Jones, and Aaron Rahsaan Thomas, Perry is presently a minor shareholder in the business.
