Another lion is on the loose, this time near the Hennops trail, along the R511 near Gauteng.
This according to the Arthur Crewe Strategic Response Rescue Unit who confirmed on Thursday, 09 March that teams are searching for the lion.
“The lion was spotted around 02h00 on Wednesday morning by a security response officer on the R511, close to the Hennops trail in Gauteng. We had a second sighting, so it’s confirmed, it is a lion.”
It’s unclear where the wild cat escaped from but the rescue unit say teams are out searching for the animal.
Over the past two months, there have been a number of wild animals on the loose, including two tigers, one near the Vaal, one in Edenvale, and a lion which was shot and killed on a North West farm.
The public has been advised to take precautions, and keep pets and children indoors.
If the lion is spotted, the public is encouraged to call the Arthur Crewe on 083 703 7399.
