Eskom spokesperson Sikhonanti Mantshantsha leaves the power utility.
Mantshantsha’s departure from the organization was declared by the state-owned electricity company in a statement on Monday. His departure comes less than a week after that of André de Ruyter, the CEO of Eskom, who suddenly had his last day in charge of the utility moved up by a month.
On Tuesday, February 28, Sikonathi Mantshantsha will report for duty for the final time as the spokesperson for Eskom as his three-year fixed-term job contract expires.
“Over the course of three years, Mantshantsha helped improve Eskom’s public image by driving honest and frank communication in the media domain on Eskom’s real position during a difficult period characterised by operating difficulties and increased load shedding,” said Eskom in a statement.

Former journalist Mantshantsha once wrote negatively about the electricity company.
The statement claims that he was chosen to oversee the media department during a challenging time when the organization needed to “restore trust and creditability” in its dealings with the public and stakeholders.
