There are reports of a civilian casualty coming from the demonstrations taking place around Wits university today.
This comes after police fired shots to disperse a group of protesting Wits University students.

The students started their demonstrations again this morning by taking to the streets. A meeting is expected to be held between the SRC and the institution’s management today.

The SRC wants students who have historical debt to be allowed to register and continue their studies.
The (Congress of the people) COPE spokesperson Dennis Bloem has weighed in on the ongoing demonstrations – calling for government to intervene.
Wits deeply saddened by the passing of civilian
Wits University says it is deeply saddened to learn of the passing of a 35-year-old man in the Braamfontein CBD outside its campusthis morning.
According to reports a civilian was caught in clashes between the protesting students and police.
The University has made available health and counselling services to students and members of the community who require assistance.
Spokesperson Shirona Patel says management has sent condolences to the family of the deceased.
