Eskom announces that loadshedding will be reduced to stage 3 during the course of the week.
The struggling power utility says that breakdowns at Arnot, Hendrina, Medupi, and Tutuka power stations are the cause of the current capacity constraints.
Over the past 24 hours, these power stations were returned to service.
Stage 4 loadshedding will continue until 16:00 pm today.
Stage 5 loadshedding will follow between 16:00 pm today and 05:00 am on Tuesday morning.
It will then be reduced to stage 3 from 05:00 am to 16:00 pm on both Tuesday and Wednesday.
If there are any significant changes, the power utility will update the current announcement.
Power stations that are currently offline for repairs included:
- Camden
- Majub
Four Open Cycle Gas Turbines at Ankerlig peaking station are out of service until 15 March.
The total breakdowns amount to 16 870MW of generating capacity while 4 757MW of generating capacity is out of service for planned maintenance
