Nandi Madida is a proud wife after her husband Zakes Bantwini won his first Grammy.
On Monday morning, Zakes Bantwini won his first-ever Grammy award for the song Bayethe where he is featured alongside Nomcbo Zikode by Wouter Kellerman.
His wife Nandi Madida notes that the musician, who lost his dad recently has had a challenging time and sang his praises on the historic win.
“As some of you may know Zakes Bantwin sadly lost his father last month. As you can imagine, it’s been such a challenging time for him, but I know his father is so proud of him right now. You have gained a powerful ancestor, my love. Congrats on winning your first Grammy!”
Zakes says his win should serve as a reminder to all the kids in Africa that dreams delayed are not dreams denied.
“I just want to say we are coming from Africa, South Africa. And this moment here is for anybody who is in Africa proves and affirm that every dream is valid. I want to say thank you to the academy and each and every child in the ghetto, just know it is possible.”
