American actress Viola Davis has achieved her EGOT status following her Grammy win at the 2023 Grammy Awards ceremony.
Viola Davis has become the 18th person to earn EGOT status by wining an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony award.
In Hollywood EGOT status represents the highest honour in television, music, film and theatre.
Viola won her first Gramophone in the category of best audiobook, narration and storytelling recording award for her memoir, Finding Me.
“I wrote this book to honour the six-year-old Viola. To honour her life, her joy, her trauma, everything. And it has just been such a journey”, the 57-year-old actress shared in her acceptance speech.
“I just EGOT!” Viola Davis eagerly shouted from the stage as she accepted her Award.
Viola also thanked her husband Julius Tennon and daughter Genesis, calling them her life and joy.
“Julius and Genesis; my life, you’re my joy and the best chapter in my book”, she emotionally shared.
The 17 other EGOT winners include John Legend, Jennifer Hudson, Whoopi Goldberg and Audrey Hepburn, just to name a few.
