South African actress Nomzamo Mbatha’s star continues to rise in Hollywood.
The 30-year-old stopped by the popular American talk show, ‘The Real’, to chat about her new movie, ‘Coming 2 America’.
Nomzamo was joined by fellow co-stars Jermaine Fowler and Garcelle Beauvais – who is also a co-host on the talk show.
‘Coming 2 America’ is Nomzamo’s first big Hollywood role. Eddie Murphy plays the lead role.
Nomzamo plays a royal groomer named Mirembe in the film.
South Africa’s golden girl
Nomzamo told ‘The Real’ hosts that everyone in South Africa is happy to see her flying the country’s flag abroad.
“I’m still pinching myself,” Nomzamo said about all the buzz around the film.
“My mom cannot contain herself. If she could have a t-shirt with my name on it and ‘Coming 2 America’ at the back she would definitely be doing that right now.
“The country is so very proud to see their little Nubian princess and really can’t wait for the film to come out. I am a ball of nerves and I am so excited,” she said.
Jermaine, who plays King Akeem’s son in the movie, sang Nomzamo’s praises during the interview.
“Being around Nomzamo was very beneficial. She’s just the coolest… she was just great and it helped me kind of ease into my role and our relationship in the film,” he said.

Hollywood’s next best thing
Nomzamo was recently named the Hollywood Reporter’s ‘Next Big Thing’.
Nomzamo said she is thankful and grateful for the honour.
“You pretty much cry and ask yourself … where did you get the courage to dream THIS big. THIS boldly… HONOURED… SPEECHLESS.”
