Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to newly elected ANC Treasurer General Dr Gwen Ramokgopa.
Ramokgopa was elected the party’s treasurer after beating rival Pule Mabe at the ANC national conference in Nasrec on the 19th of December.
Ramokgopa is the first female treasurer-general of the party and succeeds new ANC deputy president Paul Mashatile in that position.

She will be faced with the difficult task of attempting to balance the party’s books while it endures a protracted cash shortage.

Ramogopa has a distinguished background in politics.
From 2006 to 2010, she served as executive mayor of the City of Tshwane Metropolitan Municipality.
From 1998 to 2006, she was the MEC for Health in Gauteng. Ramokgopa served as deputy minister of health in the South African government from November 2010 to May 2014 after her stint as mayor of Tshwane had ended.
