A 60-year old man has been mauled to death by his own pit bulls in Lichtenburg, North West.
Police say that the victim’s wife had heard the days barking but didn’t go check what was wrong because they generally barked at pedestrians walking past.
It was after loadshedding had ended that the wife went looking for her husband inside their home and couldn’t find him. She went outside to find him lying motionless in their garden and realized he had been killed by their dogs.
The man has since been identified as former Zambian national footballer, Philemon Mulala.
Mulala was mauled to death by his three dogs, two of which were a cross between a staffie/pit bull and another unknown breed.
The dogs have been remanded to the SPCA’s custody and police have opened an inquest document.
