Saint Lounge in Cape Town is making headlines yet again, this time for its pompous cover charges for New Years Eve.
Inviting patrons to “book your minimum spend”, the Champagne Bar and Lounge shared that it will cost R1 million for a table on NYE.
No, it’s not a joke. According to the establishment, the prices per table are actually the minimum amount that one can spend on the night.
One bemused social media user, called Saint Lounge to understand exactly what the R1 million price tag includes on the night.
A Saint’s employee explained that apart from “dedicated” waiters and waitresses, there will also be a bouncer around the R1 million table.
Now, this doesn’t mean that you have to stop spending once you’ve reached your R1 million limit.
As per the telephone conversation with Saint Lounge that was posted to social media, tables are welcome to surpass their minimum spend.
Last month Saint Lounge called out non-paying customers on social media. This after a number of partygoers failed to settle their tabs.
The popular hotspot is also a celebrity’s favourite playground, but even with the hopes of bumping into an A-lister, R1 million for a table on NYE for bottle service is over-the-top.
Needless to say social media users ripped into Saint Lounge’s New Years Eve bash.
“I think at Table 1 they provide; the girls, some friends, the alcohol, transportation, pre-drinks, pre spa dates, post-groove vitamin drips, a call from the President wishing you a happy new year, your own firework display, a waiting ambulance and golden chalices from ancient Egypt.”“Does Table 1 come with a house?”
“Table 1, where do ya’ll get the money? Please show us, I know it’s not legal but please show us.”
