Western Cape Police Ombud’s final report on the alleged links between gangsters and SAPS has been received.
A final report on the suspected connections between criminals and SAPS in the Western Cape has been recieved by Alan Winde by the Western Cape Police Ombud.
Alan Winde, the premier of the Western Cape, has voiced his dissatisfaction over the revelation that certain senior police officers were working together with gangs to run their cartels without being hindered by SAPS investigations.

Following the publication of the Western Cape Police Ombud’s final report on the suspected connections between gangsters and SAPS in the Western Cape, Winde made a comment on the subject on Monday.
Point of View with Phemelo Motene spoke to Aldrid De Klerk, Senior Policing and Community Specialist about this report and what some of the findings were.

“The organised 28 gang has access to policing information to where decisions are made, to a point that they are able to influence that decision and to use that information from senior police officers to ensure that they don’t get directed or arrested, or that their particular activities are not disrupted” said De Klerk
According to Winde, the report which Police Ombud Retired Major General Oswald Reddy looked into, discovered evidence that gang members had penetrated the top administrative structures of the province’s police department and were receiving crucial information.
Winde said, “I am now carefully studying the Ombud’s report, which concluded that the allegations are likely substantiated, and considering my next steps.
