Indonesia has banned sex outside of marriage.
Indonesia has passed laws that ban extramarital sex, with those convicted facing up to a year in jail.
According to the new legislation, this applies to Indonesian citizens and international visitors, including Australians.
Despite concerns that the legislation may scare off tourists and hurt investment, Indonesia’s parliament on Tuesday outlawed sex before marriage with a penalty of up to one year in jail.
A new criminal code that applies to both Indonesians and foreigners alike and forbids cohabitation between unmarried couples was adopted by lawmakers.
