Home is certainly where the heart is.
Whether classified as a physical state or state of mind, home is subjective to each and every individual.
Home could either relate to the house or city you grew up in or it could be a special place that makes you feel safe.
For me, when I think of home, three words come to mind; safety, comfort, and warmth.
It is a place where I can enjoy some delicious home-cooked meals, wear comfy PJs and let my guard down.
On Feel Good with Andy Maqondwana, Andy asks Feel Good listeners what comes to mind when they think of home.
In a voice note, one listener opens up about how deliciously cooked Dumplings remind him of home.
“For me, the first thing that comes to mind when I think of home is Dombolo- Dumplings”, he shared.
Below are the commons things that remind listeners of home:
- The red stoep
- The lace curtain
- Room divider
- Smell of coffee
- Strained tea
- Home cooked Mogodu
- Family laughs and banter
- Incense sticks
- The smell of baked bread
- Photographs
- Ornaments
