Mchunu has also entered the leadership race and was recently quoted saying that even though the country is “facing a huge challenge,” ANC President Cyril Ramaphosa is still the best hope the country has for things to improve.

On being a candidate for the position of Deputy President
“There are many challenges in the country, all of these problems and challenges are resolvable with efforts ranging from relatively easy and quite difficult. Given that we’ve had these problems for some time, some solutions are beginning to emerge,”
“You have to be positive. You have to be upfront in tackling your problems. “
“I have confidence in the country, and I think President Ramaphosa working with everybody else, can turn the country around. Of course, I have availed myself as the candidate for deputy president.” says Mchunu.
He also responded to questions from Kaya 959 listeners and shared his views on the direction needed to take the country forward.
