To be kind literally costs nothing.
Defined as a virtue of love, kindness transcends the ability to show love, be affectionate and display confirmation for another person.
Kindness is merely about showing empathy and understanding another person’s plight and in turn offering emotional support.
Often the idea of being kind or showing kindness might come across as patronising, but nothing beats the feeling when you’ve come across someone who without expecting anything in return, unexpectedly showers you with kindness.
This is even more heartwarming when you’re actually in dire need of someone’s help.
On Feel Good with Andy Maqondwana, Andy delves into the unexpected gift of unexpectedly receiving kindness from a stranger or close relative, or friend.
One Feel Good listener opened up about how her best friend who had sadly passed away in 2020, selflessly helped her without any questions.
“I wouldn’t even ask and she would give me money. When I’d have no money to go out, all she would say is “Let’s go out and have fun!”. She would listen and offer help. She was a giver hey!”.
Another listener shared how surprisingly after his divorce, he was surrounded and supported by true friends.
“You know the phrase that goes: “When days are dark friends are few. After my divorce I realised that I was surrounded by friends who truly cared about me”, he shared.
