You need to be rich to afford one of Rich Mnisi’s luxury clothing items.
The popular South African brand is trending on Twitter after social media users learned that it was selling a xibelani skirt for R59,999.
Yes, you read right – R59,999!
Rich Mnisi unveiled several items from his Hiya Kaya collection on Instagram on Tuesday. Some of the price tags left many jaws on the floor.
“The RICH MNISI Xibelani Skirt is crafted from 5km of 100% Merino Wool knotted onto nickel-plated d-rings attached to a leather waist belt,” a description of the skirt reads.
100% Merino Wool, 100% Genuine Calf Nappa Leather, 100% out of our tax bracket.
The xibelani skirt is traditionally worn by Tsonga women. Tsonga rapper Sho Madjozi often wears the skirt in her music videos.

Rich Mnisi’s xibelani skirt comes with a matching ‘Waves Blouse’ that is “artfully crafted from fluid satin that’s patterned with a lava print, adorned with grid/circular motifs. The button-up shirt is cut for a relaxed fit”.
The price? R4,199!
Social media users were shocked but impressed by the pricing. But some Twitter users said they would stick to Mr Price.
“Rich Mnisi neh, I’m definitely not the target market,” one Twitter user wrote.
Another added: “When I grow up, I want to be like Rich Mnisi! Love him!”
I am glad it's Rich Mnisi not some designers from overseas. https://t.co/SqwA4WPQpv

If you find Rich Mnisi' products to be expensive, it means you are not the target market. He knows why his Xibelani skirt cost that much. Simple. pic.twitter.com/GH0dNuauRv
