JMPD officer was run over at a roadblock by the Golden Highway.
An officer from the Johannesburg Metro Police Department (JMPD) was struck by a car on the Golden Highway in Orange Farm this morning, October 23, and is currently in critical condition in the hospital.
Police were performing a stop and search when traffic cop Aubrey Mufundhisi Muhuvuza was struck by a silver-gray Mitsubishi Colt bakkie, according to the JMPD’s spokeswoman, Xolani Fihla.
He added that paramedics were summoned right away to the scene of the accident, and when they got there, they let the other cops know that officer Muhuvuza had just come across a life-threatening situation.

The Mitsubishi Colt bakkie was confiscated, and Orange Farm Police Station will open a case for further investigation regarding hit-and-run, careless and reckless driving, and failing to halt at the site of an accident.
“The driver of the bakkie failed to stop and drove away after crashing into the officer,” said Fihla.
“Whilst searching, the bakkie was found abandoned along Mbatha Street in Orange Farm Extention 1 and the driver was not found,”
“Officer Muhuvuza had to be airlifted to Milpark Hospital. He is said to be in stable condition with a left leg fracture and was taken to the medical ward for observation,” said Fihla.
