Parliament has spent about 58.5 million Rand on flight tickets for MPs during the 2021/22 financial year.
During the financial year 2021–2022, almost R58.5 million was spent on airline tickets for members of parliament.
These numbers were made public in the Parliament’s audited annual report.
According to the report, more than 20,000 tickets were issued to licensed travel agencies.

The report also states that the Presiding Officers Handbook and funeral policies are still being considered and awaiting final approval.
A revised policy on travel benefits, including tickets for parliamentarians, was finalized by Parliament in April.
The new guideline on travel accommodations states that former MPs who have served their entire five-year term in the legislature would have their annual flight tickets cut from 48 to 12.
