In the latest of a series of reports that link Kanye West to social media platforms, it is reported that he agreed to buy Parler.
Parler is a social media application that promotes itself as a premier global free speech platform.
The move to agree to buy Paler in principle comes after Kanye was locked out of Twitter and Instagram.
The artist made antisemitic comments online that violated the platform policies.
A tweet that is no longer visible on the rapper’s account was screenshot and shared throughout social media. In the tweet he says that he would go “death con 3” on “JEWISH PEOPLE”. The tweet included antisemitic tropes which he defended by saying that he cannot be antisemitic because “black people are actually Jew also.”
Not everyone agreed with his views, and it resulted in Twitter locking the rapper out of his account.
This followed after Instagram removed a post the rapper made and locked him out of his account.
Parler supports the rapper and his right to express himself freely. The platform released a statement that says, “in a world where conservative opinions are considered controversial we have to make sure that we have the right to freely express ourselves.”
Parler is only one of many right-wing friendly social media platforms that launched during Donald Trump’s time as president of America.
The terms of the deal were not revealed but it is reported that Kanye’s net worth is $2 billion.
